About Me

Although this is a new blog, I’ve been blogging a while. My main blog can be found here…. CleverWordsPrettyThings (shameless plug time!)

My name is Keeley and I live with my lovely husband Tim on the edge of the Peak District. I love walking, travelling, crafting and cooking.

Life is good…….

2018 in particular was an awesome year. After 14 years together, Tim and I finally got married (an extremely small, low-key affair with just 2 friends as witnesses – perfect nonetheless). Tim retired from the police so I made the decision to set up my own business and start consulting in all things finance related thereby giving us more flexibility to do more of things we enjoy. Despite only doing interim work for a while I won the North West Finance Award for Interim Professional of the Year which was a huge shock but huge from a PR perspective. I turned 50 (I don’t feel like it). I was made a Fellow of my accounting professional body. We finished our house in Spain (and went there a lot). Yes, 2018 was good year!

2019 was supposed to continue in the same vein – we had a fab 6-week holiday to Hong Kong and New Zealand planned for February but just 2 weeks into 2019 and barely off the highs of 2018, we had a huge slap in the face……. I found a lump and was subsequently diagnosed with breast cancer.

Whilst I have written in my other blog about our journeys, this particular journey was one that I had absolutely not expected to blog about (or one that I wanted to add) but life has its’ ups and downs and I’m certainly no different to the many other women who have also been cursed with this awful disease.

Admittedly, I did think long and hard about whether I should share this as I didn’t want it to ‘define me’ but I have had the privilege of reading the blogs of others who have been on a similar journey and, as someone who likes to be prepared, they have really really helped. I have also decided to keep this blog separate to my main blog as it’s a very different type of journey.

Everyone is different and each journey is different. This is my story…..
